Background

Global challenges are multi-faceted and demand an interdisciplinary research approach. Methodological framing including models, people, tools plays a central role in achieving interdisciplinary research. This is because methodological framing defines who to engage with research, the tools to be applied, target impact of the research among others. Yet experiences from most ECRs in Africa show that lack of proper methodological thinking in research impeded not only the quality of research but also interdisciplinarity and fit to the complex issues such research is expected to address. This edition will focus on how to frame integrated research methodologies in a way that strengthens interdisciplinary, co-creation, and relevance to the context.
