Science Policy Engagement to support Evidence Informed Policy Responses to COVID-19 in Africa
To support Africa’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Alliance for Accelerating Excellence in Science in Africa (AESA), is working with partners the African Center for Disease Control, African Union Commission, and WHO Afro to produce rapid evidence synthesis to inform African governments policy responses to COVID-19. Supported by the Foreign, Commonwealth. & Development Office (FCDO).
AESA would like to bring to your attention a tele-convening targeting COVID-19 (a) social sciences and policy research and (b) modelling the impact on health systems. The objective of the tele-convening is to bring together scientists, researchers, stakeholders, and policymakers at the senior official and Minister’s level to identify the priority areas for intervention that require evidence synthesis to inform decision and policy as part of the Regional Community COVID-19 response strategy. Africa Research & Impact Network (ARIN) and the African Institute for Development Policy (AFIDEP) will lead the delivery of the tele-convenings. While technical expertise will be lead by Developing Excellence in Leadership, Training and Science (DELTAS) Africa leaders and Cochrane Africa Network.
As an important stakeholder, we will greatly appreciate your participation. The event is scheduled for the 15th, June 2021 between 2-5pm EAT.
