Aliou Gadiaga is an expert in GIS and Remote Sensing. Aliou has a Bachelor’s in Geography and a Master’s degree in GIS and Remote Sensing applied to environmental management and sustainable development. Gadiaga is a Ph.D. student in Climate Change and Human Habitat under the West African Science Service Centre on Climate Change and Adapted Land Use (WASCAL) programme at the Federal University of Technology, Minna, Nigeria.
His Ph.D. research focusses on climate change and urbanisation. More specifically, Gadiaga is interested in the demographic and spatial growth of cities over time, the link between urbanisation patterns in West African cities, and the recurrence of climate extreme events in urban areas. Aliou also assesses the resilience of cities by comparing the mitigation and adaptation strategies to climate change.
Gadiaga was Research Assistant for the Research Project on Monitoring Health Indicators using Mobile Technology (PMA) at the Higher Institute of Population Science of Joseph Ki-Zerbo University, Burkina Faso from 2017 to 2021. In this project, he was responsible for programme management, spatial data and remote data collection. Gadiaga is also a trainer in GIS, Remote Sensing, Web mapping, GIS-mobile application, database and data analysis.
