Dr. Daniel Oloo Ong’ong’a (Ph.D) is a distinguished academic and researcher in the field of communication and digital media. He earned his Ph.D. from the Communication University of China. Dr. Ong’ong’a also holds an MSc in Communication Studies and a BSc in Communications and Public Relations from Moi University, Kenya.
Currently, he serves as a lecturer at Mount Kenya University in the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, and a coordinator for Research, partnership, conferences and scholarly publication at School of Social Sciences.
His research interests include digital media, digital diplomacy, and contemporary issues in climate change and environmental communication as well as integrating Artificial Intelligent (AI) in academia, media organizations and in youth initiatives.
Dr. Ong’ong’a has contributed significantly to the academic community through his research on topics such as online news media framing, digital diplomacy, the role of social media in spreading misinformation among young people, caring for waters, plastics and trees among others . In addition to his academic roles, Dr. Ong’ong’a has been involved with various international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) to promote information media literacy in Kenya. He is also an affiliate of The International Panel on the Information Environment (IPIE).
