Elias Gaveta is a transformative leader in climate-smart agriculture, community development, and environmental sustainability, with over a decade of experience in Sub-Saharan Africa. Holding a Ph.D. in Transformative Community Development from Mzuzu University, his research focuses on the interplay between climate variability and nutritional outcomes among smallholder farming communities. Elias co-founded Conservation Arts Malawi, a grassroots initiative that empowers youth through artistic and socio-cultural platforms to champion sustainable environmental management. He is the innovator behind Alimi Acheze, a mobile app designed to enhance resilience in farming communities through capacity-building and real-time reporting.
As a consultant, Elias has contributed to major projects, including authoring chapters for Malawi’s National State of the Environment and Outlook Report and policy reviews on climate-smart agriculture for multiple countries. His portfolio includes collaborations with global organizations such as Spark Microgrants, Peace Corps Malawi, and WeForest, where he has spearheaded agroforestry and livelihood programs integrating climate adaptation initiatives. A 2021 Climate Ambassador for the Global Youth Climate Network, a One Planet Fellowship Laureate, and a fellow of the Leadership in Environment and Development (LEAD). He has published widely on climate-smart agriculture, resilience, and environmental justice, with his works appearing in journals such as Sustainability and the International Journal of Climate Change
