Franklin Pyokpung Zaure is a Lecturer at the department of Theatre and Performing Arts, Ahmadu Bello University Nigeria, where he teaches Theatrical Design and Environment Sustainability. He is the Executive Director of the Creative Arts for Development Center, a grassroot NGO in Zaria-Kaduna State that leverages on diverse alternative media tools to communicate development across different spectrums of social and human engagements. He is a transdisciplinary researcher, climate activist, ecological designer, development communicator and the team lead for the Creative Arts for Climate Action (CACA) project, an initiative that uses creative arts strategies and integrates diverse methodologies to advocate for climate change adaptation in Africa.
He envisions a favorable environment where young people can use their creative abilities to advocate for climate justice and other sociopolitical issues in Africa and the world at large.
Zaure also advocates in the areas of civic responsibility and human rights.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in Theatre and Performing Arts, and a master’s in arts (Graphics and Multimedia). His PhD is also in Theatre and Performing Arts from Ahmadu Bello University Nigeria.
He has four years’ experience teaching Cultural and Creative Arts to children between ages three to fifteen years at the primary and secondary education levels in Nigeria.
He is a Fellow, Fulbright Foreign Student Program and a Fellow, RISE UP Leadership Accelerator Program.
