Ruth Onkangi is an environmental chemist, researcher and writer. She is a nature enthusiast with a key focus to enhance understanding of the nexus between environmental sustainability and economic development in the global South. Her environmental research work focuses on sustainable consumption and production of resources, climate change, pollution and policy.
Ruth has contributed to various policies such as the National Environmental Action Plan (2016-2022), Mid-term review of the National Climate Change Action Plan, the Green Mark Standards for Green Buildings and the Biodiversity chapter in a number of issues of the State of the Environment Report –Kenya.
She is a member of Friends of Nairobi National Park, Environmental Institute for Kenya, Kenya Green Building Society and Women in Real Estate.
Ruth has a passion in research and writing for advocacy, nature conservation and gender inclusivity. She is currently a research officer with the National Construction Authority-Kenya.
