Melain Merland NGUILA BAKALA is a PhD student in Botany and Ecology at Marien Ngouabi University, with a strong focus on the ecology and management of tropical forests. His research explores how biotic and abiotic factors influence the distribution of plant species—particularly trees with irregular trunks—as well as the composition of communities and the functioning of tropical ecosystems.
He possesses advanced technical skills in tree measurement (diameter, height, crown dimensions, crown exposure index), close-range photogrammetry, the establishment of permanent sampling plots, and the evaluation of biomass and carbon stocks.
In terms of data analysis, NGUILA BAKALA has expertise in multivariate analysis, linear and non-linear modeling, and tapering models. He is proficient in R software, which he uses to ensure the accuracy and reliability of his scientific analyses.
As a dedicated researcher, NGUILA BAKALA aims to contribute to the sustainable management of tropical forests through innovative, science-based solutions.
