Murungi Herbert



Murungi Herbert is a self-driven and seasonal development professional with over five years of experience in research, policy analysis, community sensitisation and project management with major focus on socio-economic, governance, sustainable development and renewable energy themes. Herbert is a Ugandan national, and he holds a Master’s in Energy Economics and Governance and a Bachelor’s in Economics, both from Makerere University. Herbert’s career spans roles at SENARA Consultancy, the Germany Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), USAID Uganda and Faith Consult International Limited where he excelled in managing projects, conducting analyses, developing data collection tools and training materials, and facilitating stakeholder engagement across Uganda and East Africa. His work is highlighted by contributions to policy briefs on energy financing, leading clean cooking innovations, development of energy access databases, training youth and women in clean cooking in Uganda, and participating multi-donor projects aimed at sustainable development among the disadvantaged population. Herbert’s commitment to sustainable development is further evidenced by his volunteer work with USAID Uganda, where he developed and managed a short-term food security project. His skills include advanced analytical capabilities, strategic communication, report writing, data collection, and analysis as well as a demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality outputs under tight deadlines.
